| Our dental plan recommendations
After years of research and customer feedback, the two
dental plans that we recommend are the
Blue Cross Individual Dental PPO and the
Benefit Designers Card.
Blue Cross Enrollment Form
Benefit Designers Card Application
We believe these two plans are the best in their
categories (one dental PPO and one Benefits Discount Card).
Option 1) Blue Cross Dental PPO
The Blue Cross Dental PPO plan is a true dental PPO
that pays for your cleanings and other preventative services and allows
you to go to see any dentist.
Option 2) Benefit Designers
Card
If you want to receive substantial discounts off of your dental needs, but
don't want to spend an arm and a leg for dental insurance, than we highly
recommend the Benefit Designers Card. Also, like the Blue Cross Dental PPO
plan, the Benefit Designers Card uses a large PPO dental network, namely
Aetna Dental Access network.

Network: |
Excellent. Many dentists that
accept dental insurance are in the Blue Cross PPO dental network.
Therefore you probably won't have to change dentists with this plan. |
Uses the Aetna Dental Access
network. This is a very large dental PPO network, and most dentists
that take PPO insurance are in this network. |
Out of network
availability: |
Any dentist may be used since
this is a PPO, but out-of-network dentists will increase your out of
pocket costs, as Blue Cross pays a smaller percentage for services
performed with dentists that are "out of network." |
You must go to a dentist in
the Aetna Dental Access Network to use this card.
Check available dentists in the Aetna Dental Access network here.
Be sure to select "Aetna
Dental Access" |

|
Who is the plan for: |
This plan is for people that
have a dentist they like and do not want to change. Also, it is best for
people that do not need any immediate dental services as this plan has a 3
month waiting period for basic services and a 12 month waiting period for
major services. There is no waiting period on preventative services
(cleanings, x-rays, etc.). This plan has higher monthly premiums than an
HMO dental plan, however the out of pocket costs will be lower than with
an HMO for services rendered. |
This plan is for individuals
and families that do not want to spend high premiums for a dental plan,
but will pay a modest monthly fee to get substantial discounts on
everything from cleanings, x-rays, fillings, root canals, crowns and even
orthodontics. Also,
since the plan utilizes the vast Aetna Dental Access network, you still
have access to many of the dentists you may already be using.
The plan is also great for
small companies that want to offer an affordable voluntary dental card for
their part time or full time employees. |
|
Additional benefits: |
Dental
benefits only. |
This card
offers a lot more than just dental discounts, such as access to discounts
on medical services through the Beech Street PPO network, Discounted
prescription drugs, Financial wellness, VIP Health and Wellness, Home
alarm discounts, Identity theft prevention services, and hearing aid
discounts. |
